Delta 8 vs HHC vs THC-O What’s the Difference?

HHC? THC-O? What’s next? There are so many cannabinoids out there, it is difficult to keep up! Everyday, there seems to be a new cannabinoid in the market. As of lately, there are two cannabinoids that is catching the internet in a storm. These two cannabinoids are HHC, and THC-O-Acetate. In this guide, we want to clear the smoke in what the differences are between HHC, THC-O, and Delta 8.

HHC

In the hemp industry, HHC is derived from CBD. By chemically converting CBD to HHC, we are able to have a cannabinoid that provides a high similar to Delta 8, but apparently does not show up on drug tests. Because HHC is not Delta 8 THC, or any THC, it is also technically legal in all 50 states. Being in a legal gray area in all 50 states while providing a high that is not as strong but still similar to Delta 8 are just a couple benefits of HHC.

Does HHC get you High?

In short, yes. However, HHC is said to have a high that is less potent than Delta 8. If HHC makes you less high than Delta 8, and Delta 8 is reported to already makes you less high than Delta 9 THC, then you may require a lot more HHC if you are an avid consumer. People looking for a more manageable high throughout the day may find HHC to be a more practical alternative. Some have reported that consuming HHC while working out provides the same medical benefits of THC while minimizing the psychoactive drawbacks. For these reasons, people have preferred HHC over THC variants. Because HHC is categorized differently from THC, it not only provides a different high, but also acts differently with the law.

How is HHC Legal?

HHC is not THC. Many states that regulate Delta 8 THC include all THC cannabinoids. HHC however, does not categorize as a THC despite providing a similar high. Because HHC is derived from hemp, it is federally legal, and because it is not physically THC, it is a current legal loophole in all states that are regulating THC.

HHC may have found success in the legal loophole with THC regulations, but what about THC-O?

THC-O Legalities

Unfortunately, THC-O still falls under the category of THC and may be regulated even more heavily than Delta 8. The reason being is because of its apparently strong psychoactive effects.

Does THC-O Get you high?

THC-O is reported to get you twice as high as regular Delta 9 THC. Knowing that THC-O is derived from hemp, it is amazing that this cannabinoid can be so strong. As a result, people are able to consume less THC-O while getting the same high as Delta 9 and Delta 8. When that is compared to HHC, it seems that THC-O is on the complete opposite end of the psychoactive spectrum.

Is THC-O and HHC Safe?

Although you may have just heard about these cannabinoids, they have been around for quite some time. That being said, the long term effects are still lacking research, and we recommend to use caution when consuming these products. Compared to Delta 8, THC-O and HHC require more processes to synthesize, making them more expensive, and seemingly less naturally occurring than Delta 8. Although people claim that these two cannabinoids can still be found on hemp and cannabis plants, they do not compare with the fact that Delta 8 is the closest to Delta 9, of which we have already put in a ton of long term research into.

There are so many cannabinoid products on the market, it is difficult to choose the best one for you. Despite these newly popularlized cannabinoids like HHC and THC-O, Mints Market believes that Delta 8 is a cannabinoid that is reliable, backed by research, and free of additional chemicals used to process the other cannabinoids.
